The Ivor Novello Awards are named after the Welsh entertainer Ivor Novello and awarded annually for songwriting and composing. It began in 1956 when it was originally named the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors. There are various categories, some of which had been there since the beginning and others have been introduced or jettisoned along the way. This week, I’ve listed the people who have won in the category for Outstanding Services to British Music. This was in force from 1956 – 1991 and briefly returned in 1996.
